Chlorine

Period E – Wednesday, October 29th

  • answer questions about Thermodynamics exam retake
  • retake Thermodynamics exam
  • NOTE: sophomores and juniors missing form class due to retreats

Period E – Friday, November 1st

Homework Review

  • Ch. 6 (69 – 74)
  • Questions?

Activity – Electron Configurations

  • In the Google Drive find the folder “Spectra” in the “Lecture and Content” folder
  • Examine each spectrum and try to find the pattern that creates each spectrum
  • Decide on the “why” for each – on what basis is each created?
  • Identify the unknown element

Homework

  • Ch. 7 Notes

Post Activity Wrap

  • Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES)
  • Energy is given to an element and the resulting ejecting of electrons recorded
  • The amount of energy corresponds to number and location of electrons
  • Online Simulation [LINK]
  • Connections to Periodic Table  – ionization energy (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc)

LAB ANSWER

You cannot determine the identity of the carbonate because the calcium chloride is the limiting reactant in the reaction. Gravimetric analysis only works when the precipitate is tied to the desired limiting reactant.
